Shabusen Restaurant

One of my all time favourite restaurants Downtown Vancouver is none other than SHABUSEN! It is a Japanese all you can eat/ Korean BBQ place that is absolutely to die for.

You go upstairs to the restaurant and it has special booths that look like boats that you sit in, they require you to take off your shoes but if you are not interested in doing that you can sit at a regular table.

Now you can have the regular menu, or the all you can eat menu. I highly recommend you go for the all you can eat menu, because you can grill your meat yourself. On each of the tables there is a little grill that is built in. Your waiter lights it when you are first seated. Their all you can eat menu has a huge variety of different things on it. My biggest issue with most all you can eat places is they have a very limited menu, but you will not find that problem here I guarantee you.

The first time I went to Shabusen, I went with six of my friends. We went at around seven o clock and this place was packed. We had to wait awhile before being seated. The staff is very friendly, and the service they provided us was very efficient. No one was waiting too long for anything, which is always a plus. We ordered lots of rolls, and of course my favourite SASHIMI!! Now I was very hesitant to try their sashimi because I have had many bad experiences. But when they brought me my Tuna and Salmon, the colours were so vibrant. The sashimi did not have that fishy smell that you find sometimes, it was really fresh. The taste was amazing, I was in heaven. We also ordered Oyster Motoyaki and it was the perfect balance of cheese and mayo layered on top of the oyster, it was to die for. Now lets talk about the Korean BBQ, which was probably the best part of the night for me because we got to cook the meat the way we wanted. They brought us bowls with beef, pork, chicken all marinated in their sauces, and we just put them on the grill and when we thought they were done we took them off and ate it. My friends were fighting over who got to make what it was a lot of fun, and it created a really warm, exciting atmosphere. You can even get seafood like squid and octopus and grill them to have some BBQ Ika. Of course just remember not to over cook or burn your food. We ordered so much food, just make sure you do not give the sheet that you fill out saying how much you want of everything to someone who does not know how to order because my friend ordered 20 chicken wings along with our long list of sushi and we were having such a hard time finishing it all. I definitely needed to un-do my pants for more room. They have ice cream, Jell-O, and some traditional desserts from the cultures. There was nothing that did not taste delicious and was not up to my standards, which are pretty high, I might add.

If you are looking to have a big family night out, a birthday dinner, or have a company and want to take your employees out this is the place to go. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get, and they are open fairly late into the evening. You will not regret ever giving this place a try. Just remember not to over order or you will end up paying for the things you do not eat.
