| I'm wondering if snow for any Winter Olympics is like weather for farmers: the farmers are never happy. At least that was the joke for family and friends who did farming in Ontario and Saskatchewan. Now it seems that for the 2010 Winter Olympics, there's a lot of snow in Whistler. Specifically I looked up that there's a base of 292 cm with a 43 cm having fallen in the last week. I read some people worry there's too much snow for Winter Olympics events. I can't help but think that perfectionists are making these kinds of claims. Remember that the first fellow (Edward Lorenz) who worked on Chaos Theory, was a meteorologist. Weather was the inspiration for chaos! Cypress Mountain has the opposite problem! They've been dealing with warm weather and are now in Plan B or maybe C for preparing for the Free style skiing and Snowboarding events. However as of Jan 25, they reported 25 cm of snow. With the stored up snow they have in the mountains, I'm confident they will keep to their schedule. I find the naysayers are having a lot of fun being curmudgeons. I think at this time that we should be hoping for the best possible conditions for the Winter Olympics. |
