Vancouver and Lower Mainland Walks

With Vancouver regularly rated as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, it’s no surprise that there are great walks to take. Check these out:

  • Stanley Park Seawall in Vancouver
    This is an 8.8 km (5.5 mi.) walk around the huge Stanley Park. This is both a scenery and people-watching walk as there are bikers, walkers, joggers, inline skaters, strollers and more all taking in the beauty. The easiest way to access it is to go down Denman Ave., enter Stanley Park, bear right and follow the path and people.
  • Lynn Canyon Park in North Vancouver
    This walk is a trail walk and includes a suspension bridge. As you are at altitude, make sure to have enough warm clothes. Take the trail to 30-foot pool for a shorter, easier walk or take the train to Twin Falls, which is about 40 minutes.
  • West Vancouver Sea Walk
    This is a 5 km (3.1 mi.) walk that connects the two key sections of West Vancouver: Ambleside and Dudarave. It is stroller friendly and gives terrific views of mountains, oceans, piers and wildlife.
  • Everett Crowley Park in east Vancouver
    This park is accessible via Marine Drive off Kerr St. It is a forest inside a city and has easy trails. The views are of the north arm of the Fraser River.
  • Baden-Powell Trail in Deep Cove
    Deep Cove is near North Vancouver and is accessed via the Dollarton Highway or Mount Seymour Parkway. The trail is accessed vi Panorama Park and a set of wooden stairs. This one is fairly challenging, but provides a spectacular view of Indian Arm.
  • Southlands in Vancouver
    This unexpected piece of countryside in the city is best accessed via 51st Ave. and Balaclava. Head south toward the river and discover a bridle path (watch for horses) and make your way to the river. Enjoy to view!
  • Deer Lake in Burnaby
    To find Deer Lake, access it via Canada Way and Deer Lake Parkway. Start at the Burnaby Village Museum, find the Century Garden, and then proceed to the lake.
