Originally built in 1913 and recently redesigned by award-winning B.C architect David Dobie, the New Grand is the city's only "boutique hotel." The property's 40s-style decor and its individually furnished rooms give guests the cozy feel of a bed and breakfast, with all the state-of-the-art amenities of a big city stay.

If you listen close enough you might hear the ghosts of revelry that made the site a jewel in Nelson's crown of history.

The New Grand stands on the site of the old Gluepot Saloon. Back in the region's roaring days of mining and prospecting, settlers, explorers and scalawags bellied up to the bar for wines and spirits, sold in exchange for coins and gold dust.

Each one of the suites has been individually decorated with the furnishings and finishings of the 1940s. The era's function and style combine with airy, bright ambiance and picture-perfect views of the Selkirk Mountains and Kootenay Lake, creating a subtle luxury perfect for relaxation and comfort.

Special touches like locally crafted artwork make your stay a home away from home experience.

If you're traveling with the team or on an adventurous getaway, check into the New Grand Hostel.

Fifteen rooms offer private double and triple occupancy lodgings, just down the hall from a bustling common room and light cooking facilities.
