Crescent Beach in Surrey
A hidden corner of Surrey BC
A hidden corner of Surrey BC
Surrey BC accommodations give visitors a chance to explore this diverse community that has the largest land area of all communities in the province and is one of BC's fastest growing communities. Located less than a half hour's drive from Vancouver, it extends from the Fraser River to Boundary Bay and the US border.
Delta is on its western border and Langley on its eastern border. It is the most easterly municipality in the Greater Vancouver Regional District. The Surrey Fall Fair and the Cloverdale Rodeo continue to be popular attractions for tourists and residents. The waterfront communities of White Rock (now separately incorporated) and Crescent Beach are popular retirement communities. Surrey has a fine arts centre, 16 golf courses and harness racing at Fraser Downs. In the 1990s it became the second largest city in BC after Vancouver, in terms of its population. It began as a commercial centre for the primarily agricultural district but development increased once the Puttullo Bridge across the Fraser River provided easier access from Vancouver. Its population has increased nine-fold since the early 1950s
