Tofino accommodations enable the visitor to enjoy the beauties of Pacific Rim National Park on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Located 135 km (84 mi.) west of Port Alberni, the town was named by Spanish explorers after the hydrographer Vincente Tofino de San Miguel. Since the creation of the national park in the area Tofino has become a major tourist centre where visitors enjoy whale watching and other forms of ecotourism. The giant gray whales are seen in this area.

Tofino and its sister community, Ucluelet, both provide a range of accommodations and many properties are waterfront with waterview rooms. Storm watching has become a popular winter tourism activity in the area.
