Winlaw BC is a small community of 400 people on the Slocan River, just 19 km (12 mi.) south of Slocan and 46 km (29 mi.) north of Castlegar.
Just 20 km (12 mi.) north of the town is Valhalla Provincial Park, a 122,000 acre wilderness Park where you can hike to Idaho Peak Lookout to see the Slocan Valley and the Valhalla Mountains. Nearby Kokanee Glacier Park offers great trout fishing in summer and in winter people come to ski, skate and ice fish.
Great hiking and fishing are major attractions in this area. Mountain bikers enjoy the 6.7 kilometer biking trail in Perry's siding, where an annual race is held.
Winlaw accommodations include bed and breakfasts, cottages and campgrounds.
Our Winlaw campground and cottages are nestled in the picturesque Slocan Valley, in the Selkirk Mountains of the West Kootenays, between the Rocky Mountains and the Okanagan, about half way between Calgary and Vancouver. We are on the pristine Slocan River in the hamlet of Winlaw, centrally located to Valhalla & Kokanee Provincial Parks, and the towns of Nelson, Castlegar and New Denver.
