The Lazy Bowen Hideaway has been in the Stevens family since 1955. Originally the cabin was a fisherman's shack built in 1920 with plenty of rustic charm. In 1977, The Lazy Bowen was rebuilt with all the simple comforts needed for a full time address. This gorgeous waterfront property was passed on to the next generation in 2003.

You will treasure the moderate temperatures for hiking, swimming, biking, kayaking, and / or doing nothing.

The Lazy Bowen Hideaway is located on Bowen Island, British Columbia. Take a 30-minute drive north from Vancouver, B.C. to Horseshoe Bay where you will catch the short 20-minute ferry to peaceful and rural Bowen Island. From the ferry landing, the drive is two miles to Cleator Road. Now, you have choices: 1) Park at the top by the mailboxes and walk down to #1475 for a terrific exercise opportunity. 2) Shift into 4-wheel drive and navigate the lane to park on the property. Cleator Road is steep in spots with loose gravel so a 4-wheel drive vehicle is required to maintain the road.

As you enter the Lazy Bowen, you will see a spectacular view of Howe Sound with the city of Vancouver in the distance. Look through the Arbutus trees to make out the peak of Cypress Ski Resort, (only a 30-minute drive from Horseshoe Bay). If you like skiing you may also like to know that Whistler is only 90 minutes away and the site of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

The Lazy Bowen is a total of 1200 square feet on one level. There are two bedrooms each with a queen size bed. Additional sleeping areas are available when needed. The sunshine filled great room measures 27' x 27' with a 32' wall of glass facing the seaside view.  You have a choice of three seating locations whether you would like to watch TV, read a book, play games or just gaze at the fire. The vintage furnishings are refreshed with new fabrics, rugs and accessories. In addition, family antique pieces have been used to keep the Stevens' family history alive.

The Lazy Bowen Hideaway is a non-smoking home. Extreme caution should be taken while smoking outside as the Island is experiencing summer drought conditions.
