McBride BC was the first community established on the Yellowhead Highway. It is 200 km (136 mi.) east of Prince George. It was settled at the time of the development of the railroads in the 1900's.

The Robson Valley area provides spectacular scenery for outdoor adventure so hikers, fishermen and white water rafting enthusiasts are drawn to the area.

It is a favored destination for birdwatchers as more than 175 species of birds have been found at neighboring Horseshoe Lake. Heli-skiing and heli-hiking is a draw for visitors from every continent.
