Madeira Park is one of three communities which surround Pender Harbour.
The Pender Harbour area that is a about 5 km (3 mi.) long, winding through a maze of islands, coves and reefs which has been called "the Venice of the North" for its lovely waterways. Madeira Park is one of these communities, along with Garden Bay and Irvine's Landing. This Harbour has more than 103 miles of shoreline. It is a mecca for not only fishermen but also boaters, scuba divers, artists, photographers, paddlers, horseback riders and golfers.
There are three primary provincial parks around Pender Harbour and totalling an area of approximately 10,000 hectares (24,700 acres). Each offers a different wilderness experience. Mt. Richardson Provincial Park has a summit-based lake. Spipiyus Provincial Park has a virgin forest made up of some of Canada's oldest known tress and Tetrahedron Plateau is an alpine wonderland that can be reached via an unused logging road from which there are many forest trails available for hiking. This is an area for experienced hikers. Maps are required and trailheads are not always identified.
North of Madeira Park are the communities of Earl's Cove, Egmont, Skookumchuck Narrows and the waters of Jervis Inlet.
