Penticton (pronounced Pen-tic-ton) is local Salish Native word meaning "a place to live forever or year-round". Located on the beautiful and mysterious Lake Okanagan, Penticton was first settled by a European in 1865 and became a municipal district in 1907.

Penticton hotels and accommodations are great place as a base of operations to explore the Okanagan. There are over 40 wineries nearby to explore, but if that's not to your liking you can golf and enjoy water sports on Lake Okanagan.

Make sure to take in the S.S. Sicamous, the largest remaining steel-hulled sternwheeler in Canada. She was built in 1914 for passengers, mail and cargo for Penticton and other points in the Okanagan.
