The Thompson Okanagan includes about 320 km (200 mi.) of vineyards from Osoyoos to Vernon making for numerous scenic wine tasting tours.
In winter, the region offers excellent skiing at such resorts as Big White, Silver Star and Sun Peaks.
Kelowna and Kamloops are the two largest cities in the region with populations of 96,000 and 80,000 respectively.
Famous for summer vacations is The Shuswap region, which centres itself around the Shuswap Lakes.
The Thompson Okanagan also encompasses Wells Grey Provincial Park, which is 5297 sq. km (3291 sq. mi.). It is know for Helmcken Falls, which is 137 m (450 ft) high, as well as wildlife and ice fields to the north. It is north of Kamloops and Clearwater and west of Valemount.
