Grand Forks, BC received its name because it is located where the Kettle and North Kettle Rivers join in the Boundary area's "Sunshine Valley".

Grand Forks' development was tied to the railway and mining boom of the late 1800s. Today it is a thriving community of 4000 people, with the lumber industry and tourism as the mainstays of its economy.

It has become a four-season recreation destination where fishing, hiking, hunting, golfing, biking, downhill and cross-country skiing, camping and every kind of water sport can be enjoyed in the many lakes and rivers.

History buffs enjoy the 19th century mine sites and the many abandoned rail grades.

Stay in Grand Forks accommodations and enjoy the downtown area which includes a Museum and Art Gallery. Enjoy one of the many good beaches along the river, some offering authentic Russian borscht and homemade bread.
