The Kootenays are also known as The BC Rockies. The name Kootenay comes from the Ktunaxa First Nation with names like Kootenay Lake, Kootenay River and Kootenay National Park, and even Kootenay Mountain Ale, one beer named after the region.

Our Winlaw campground and cottages are nestled in the picturesque Slocan Valley, in the Selkirk Mountains of the West Kootenays, between the Rocky Mountains and the Okanagan, about half way between Calgary and Vancouver.
