Hornby Island is a short ferry ride from Denman Island and is home to artists and artisans. There are a variety of studios and galleries on the island and a number of restaurants and shops. The Co-op grocery with its gas station is a major centre, as is the adjacent Ringside Market and the many shops located with it.

Also known for its beautiful beaches and hiking trails. Helliwell Provincial Park provides a day-use only park named for the Helliwell family who originally donated the land. It has a 5 km (3 mi.) walk along the spectacular bluff and the old -growth forest of firs, pines and oaks. Visitors are asked to keep dogs under control so as not to disturb nesting cormorants. In the spring, visitors may see sea lions and rare wildflowers in this unique setting.

Tribune Bay Provincial Park is a wide sheltered bay with some of the warmest ocean water in British Columbia. Its white sand beaches provide excellent family swimming and wading and its tidal pools provide hours of entertainment. Dogs are not allowed on this beach. There is a day use picnic area but no overnight camping.

There are a range of Hornby Island accommodations, including bed and breakfasts, cottages and RV and tenting campgrounds.
